Training and Education Course Delivery 13th – 24th January, 2025

Lakapi Samoa and Samoa Secondary Schools Principals Association are gearing up for a Super Week as part of its operational plan, commencing on Monday 13th to the 24th of January, 2025.

The primary goal of this Super Week is to empower teachers involved in rugby across Samoa to assume various roles including coaches, administrators, match officials, first aiders, and strength and conditioning coaches. The Super Week looks to foster the development of high-quality players, ensure proper application of the laws of the game, prevent injuries, and implement effective programs to support players’ pathways.

The Chief Executive Officer of Lakapi Samoa, Seumanu Douglas Ngau Chun emphasised the importance of this initiative.

“This course aligns with World Rugby’s strategic strands and aims to enhance Training & Education initiatives. Recognizing the need to strengthen the capacity of rugby administrators, World Rugby Trainers and Educators will provide essential support to ensure effective and impactful training throughout 2025.

It also serves as a valuable capacity-building initiative for our local secondary school teams, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to excel in their roles and contribute to the development of rugby at the grassroots level.”

The two-week period offers a unique opportunity for World Rugby Trainers and Educators to conduct these courses while teachers are on their school holidays.

The increased engagement in Rugby within schools through 2025 is expected to produce not only better players but also higher-quality coaches and administrators.

A total of 70 participants from across Samoa will take part in the course, which include the following:

– Level 1 & Level 2 Coaching 7s

– Level 1 & Level 2 Coaching 15s

– Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Coach

– Level 1 First Aid In Rugby

– Level 1 & Level 2 Match Officials
