Lakapi Samoa Acknowledges MWCSD for Supporting Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Initiative

Lakapi Samoa extends its sincere appreciation to the Honorable Minister of Women, Community and Social Development, Afioga Lagaaia Tiaituau Tufuga, the Chief Executive Officer, and the Ministry for approving our proposal as part of the Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAW) Initiative.

We are humbled to be one of the four non-governmental organizations selected to receive a share of the $100,000 SAT grant, alongside Soul Talk Samoa, Samoa Rejuvenate Youth Group, and The Salvation Army. This funding will support our ongoing commitment to using rugby as a platform to promote positive values, respect, and safety within our communities.

Additionally, we commend the government’s allocation of $200,000 SAT to the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) to aid in their vital work supporting victims of violence at the Campus of Hope.

Lakapi Samoa CEO, Seumanu Douglas Ngau Chun, expressed his gratitude, stating:

“This support from the Government and MWCSD is a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing social issues through sports. Rugby is more than just a game—it is a tool for social change, and this funding will allow us to further our efforts in fostering safe and respectful communities. We are honored to be part of this initiative and will ensure that these resources are used effectively to make a lasting impact.”

Lakapi Samoa remains committed to driving social change through rugby and will work diligently to ensure the successful implementation of this initiative. We acknowledge the Ministry’s guidance and accountability measures and look forward to making a meaningful impact in the fight against violence towards women and girls.

Fa’afetai tele lava, MWCSD, mo le lagolago ma le fa’atuatuaga.
